| Bijzonderheden | : | In de jaren 20 van de 20e eeuw werd bij de RSL door de ingenieur-vlieger H.J. van der Maas uitvoerig onderzoek gedaan naar de statische langsstabiliteit van vliegtuigen. De afbeelding laat de instrumenten zien, waaronder een stuurstand meter, die daarbij werden gebruikt. Het onderzoek leidde tot een belangrijke conclusie. Een vliegtuig is statisch langs stabiel wanneer het na een verstoring uit de evenwichtstoestand, zonder ingrijpen van de vlieger, terugkeert in de richting van de evenwichtstoestand. In the 1920s the engineer-pilot at the RSL H.J. van der Maas conducted extensive research into the static longitudinal stability of aircraft. The picture shows the instruments, such as a stick position indicator, which were used during the tests. The research produced an important conclusion. An aircraft shows static longitudinal stability when it, after a disturbance from the state of equilibrium and without intervention of the pilot, tends to return into the direction of this equilibrium. |
