| Bijzonderheden | : | De Sud Aviation SE-210 Caravelle was het eerste verkeersvliegtuig met twee straalmotoren aan de romp achterzijde. De eerste meting in de transsone tunnel HST was in april 1959, dus vóór de officiële opening, aan een model dat daarvoor ook gemeten was in de tunnel van Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory in Amerika. Deze meting viel onder het zogenaamde AICMA-contract, een raamovereenkomst waarbinnen de AICMA-leden tegen een gereduceerd tarief en met bepaalde voorrechten in de HST konden meten [1]. De heer Adenot, Secretaris-Generaal van AICMA, onderstreepte bij de opening "the good results obtained". Tot in de 60-er jaren is aan verschillende versies van de Caravelle gemeten in zowel het transsone (carrousselfoto's 1 en 2) als in het lage snelheidsgebied (foto 3). De eerste vlucht van de Caravelle was in 1955. Er zijn 282 vliegtuigen gebouwd waarvan de laatste in 1972 werd afgeleverd. The Sud Aviation SE-210 Caravelle was the first passenger aircraft with jet propulsion. The two engines were mounted at the rear of the fuselage. The first wind tunnel test in the transonic wind tunnel HST was made April 1959, hence before the official opening of this facility. The same model had been tested before in the tunnel of Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory. This test was made under the umbrella contract of the international organisation AICMA that allowed its members to test in the HST at reduced costs and with some preference [1]. Mr. Adenot, Secretary-General of AICMA, underlined at the opening "the good results obtained". Till the early sixties, many tests were made on various derivatives at transonic (carousel photos 1 and 2) and low speed conditions (photo 3). The first flight of the Caravelle was in 1955.
