| Bijzonderheden | : | Als opvolger van de Scaled Flight Demonstrator (zie beeldbankfoto 00805) werd de DEP-SFD (Distributed Electric Propulsion Scaled Flight Demonstrator) ontwikkeld. Het ontwerp van de SFD is hergebruikt om Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP) te testen en te ontwikkelen voor toekomstige grote passagiersvliegtuigen. Deze DEP-SFD, met vleugels met elk 3 propellers, was gepland om zijn eerste vlucht te hebben in 2023. Tijdens een grondtest op 11 mei 2023 is in de DEP-SFD brand ontstaan. Dit gebeurde op het parkeerterrein van het NLR in Amsterdam. Het toestel raakte daarbij onherstelbaar beschadigd. Na onderzoek naar de toedracht van de brand en implementatie van mitigerende maatregelen is een nieuw airframe gebouwd, de DEP-SFD2. In maart 2024 zijn succesvolle taxitesten met dit vliegtuig uitgevoerd in voorbereiding op testvluchten. Op 2 mei 2024 was het zover: de eerste vlucht op Aeroporto di Taranto-Grottaglie in Italië. As a successor to the Scaled Flight Demonstrator (see photo 00805), the DEP-SFD (Distributed Electric Propulsion Scaled Flight Demonstrator) was developed. The design of the SFD has been reused to test and develop Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP) for future large passenger aircraft. This DEP-SFD, with wings with 3 propellers each, was scheduled to have its first flight in 2023. During a ground test on May 11, 2023 a fire erupted in the DEP-SFD. This happened at the NLR car park in Amsterdam. The aircraft was irreparably damaged. After an investigation into the cause of the fire and implementation of mitigating measures a new airframe has been built, the DEP-SFD2. In March 2024 successful taxi tests have been carried out with this aircraft in preparation for flight tests.
